Privacy Policy
Effective 1 May 2025
The short version
MarketLens does not collect your name, email address or any personal information directly. We don't have a sign-up form and we don't run a newsletter. However, like most websites, there are third-party services running in the background — primarily Google AdSense for advertising — that do use cookies and may collect certain information. This policy explains all of that plainly.
Information collected automatically
When you visit MarketLens, our web server automatically records standard technical information: your IP address, the type of browser you're using, which pages you visited, and the time of your visit. This is standard server log data kept for security and operational purposes. We don't use it to identify you personally and we don't sell it.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. MarketLens itself does not set any first-party cookies — we don't track your preferences or login sessions. However, third-party services embedded on this site do use cookies, as described below.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Be aware that blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of this site display.
Google AdSense and advertising
MarketLens uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads that are relevant to your interests, based on your browsing history across sites that use Google's advertising services.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to MarketLens and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
For more information on how Google handles data in its advertising products, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Third-party data sources and links
MarketLens pulls financial data and news headlines from third-party providers including Yahoo Finance, Financial Modeling Prep, Alpha Vantage, ABC News, BBC, The Guardian, NHK World, and others. When you click through to an external article or source, you leave MarketLens and that site's own privacy policy applies. We're not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
The equity research tool on this site makes requests to financial data APIs on your behalf. Your search query (the ticker or company name you enter) is sent to our server to process, but we do not store your search history.
Children's privacy
MarketLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your rights under Australian privacy law
MarketLens operates in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may also apply to you. In either case, you have the right to request access to any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
Since we collect very little personal data directly, most requests of this nature would relate to server log data. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
